A relationship grounded in a specific scene
In Iliad Book V, the wounded Aphrodite returns to Dione. The narrator calls Dione her mother, providing a direct basis for this relationship without supplying an entire genealogy.
Dione comforts her with accounts of other gods’ suffering. That episode is not evidence that all mythological relationships share a single consistent version.
Butler calls Aphrodite Venus. The database uses Greek names for navigation while retaining the translation information in its citation.
